Online counselling for teens and families

Support for young people ages 10 to 17 across Alberta, by secure video or phone, with clear information for parents and guardians.

Working with young people online

Growing up comes with real pressure: school, friendships, family changes, identity, and everything online. I work with young people ages 10 to 17 who are dealing with things like worry, low mood, stress, or big changes at home.

Many young people find online sessions easier than sitting in an office. They can join from a familiar room, and phone or video can feel less intense than face-to-face. Sessions are 50 minutes and adapted to each young person's age and comfort level.

  • A private room with the door closed, ideally with headphones
  • A parent or guardian nearby, especially for younger children, but not listening in
  • A phone, tablet, or computer and a steady internet connection

The role of parents and guardians

Parents and guardians matter a great deal. The free consult is usually with a parent or guardian, so you can ask questions and share what you've been noticing. A parent may also join part of the first session.

After that, sessions are mainly one-on-one with your young person. From time to time, and with their knowledge, we can check in together about general progress and how you can support them at home.

Consent and confidentiality

For clients under 18, I start by talking with the young person and their parents or guardians about consent and what will and won't be shared with parents.

Some things can't stay private at any age: a serious risk of harm to self or others, situations the law requires me to report (such as child-protection concerns), or a court order.

How starting works

  1. Reach out

Book a free 15-minute consult through Jane, or leave your contact details and I'll get in touch. No referral needed.

  2. Free consult

A short, no-pressure call to talk about what's bringing you in, answer your questions, and see if we're a good fit.

  3. First session

A 50-minute session by video or phone. We'll get a sense of what's going on and decide on next steps together, at your pace.
