Online counselling for stress and burnout in Alberta
Support for overwhelm, exhaustion, and work or life pressure, by secure video or phone, anywhere in Alberta.
Stress is part of life, but sometimes it stops easing off. Work, caregiving, school, money, or a long stretch of pressure can leave you feeling stretched thin, with little left for yourself or the people around you.
Burnout often builds slowly. By the time it has a name, many people have been pushing through for a long time. Counselling can help you pause, understand what is draining you, and find a more sustainable way forward.
What stress and burnout can look like
- Feeling exhausted, even after time off
- Dreading work or daily responsibilities
- Feeling cynical, detached, or less effective than you used to be
- Irritability, or snapping at people more than usual
- Headaches, muscle tension, or trouble sleeping
- Struggling to switch off from work or obligations
- Feeling like you never have enough time for what matters to you
You don't have to hit a breaking point to reach out. If stress is starting to shape your days, it's worth talking about.
How I approach it
I combine evidence-based approaches and adapt them to your situation, your responsibilities, and your goals.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- We look at the thinking patterns and habits that keep stress high, such as perfectionism or difficulty saying no, and try out practical changes.
- Mindfulness-based approaches
- Skills for noticing early signs of stress in your body and mind, and simple ways to settle and recover during busy days.
- Narrative therapy
- We explore the expectations and stories, from work, family, or culture, that may be shaping how much you carry, and what you want your own story to look like.
- Solution-focused therapy
- We focus on what you want more of and the small changes that are realistic in your life right now.
What sessions involve
Sessions are 50 minutes, by secure video or phone. We'll start by mapping out what's on your plate, what's draining you, and what still gives you energy.
From there, we'll work on what matters most to you. That might be boundaries, recovery, priorities, or bigger questions about direction. We'll keep it practical and grounded in your real life.
Online sessions can fit around a busy schedule. You can join from home or another private space, without adding a commute to your day.
If you're running on empty and wondering whether counselling could help, a free 15-minute consult is an easy, no-pressure first step.
