Online counselling anywhere in Alberta

Secure video or phone sessions with Jeff Russon, Registered Clinical Social Worker. 50-minute sessions, $180, with receipts for extended health claims.

How video and phone sessions work

Everything happens through Jane, an online booking and appointment platform built for health care providers in Canada.

  1. Book online. Choose a time that suits you. You'll get a confirmation and a reminder by email.
  2. Join by video. A few minutes before your session, click the link in your reminder or in your Jane account. It opens in your web browser; there's nothing complicated to install.
  3. Or choose phone. If video isn't right for you, I'll call you at your appointment time.

Sessions are 50 minutes. You can switch between video and phone as your needs change.

Privacy and security, in plain terms

  • Video sessions run through Jane’s secure, encrypted telehealth tool, not a general-purpose video app.
  • Sessions are not recorded.
  • I join every session from a private, closed room.
  • Your records are kept to the standards of the Alberta College of Social Workers and Alberta privacy law.

Before we begin, you'll receive an informed-consent document that explains confidentiality and its limits. Questions are always welcome. See the FAQ for more.

What you'll need

  • A private space where you can talk freely without being overheard. A parked car or a quiet room both work.
  • A device: a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone (or just a phone for phone sessions).
  • A reasonably steady internet connection for video. Headphones can help with privacy and sound.

For people located in Alberta

Online sessions are for people who are physically located in Alberta at the time of the session. If you'll be travelling outside the province, let me know ahead of time and we'll work out the best plan, which may mean rescheduling.

Counselling wherever you are in the province

Because sessions are online, where you live in Alberta doesn't limit your options. Sessions are open to people in Edmonton and Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge, and smaller towns and rural communities where finding a counsellor nearby can be hard.

Online counselling also means no commute, no waiting room, and sessions that can fit around work, school, or family. Many people find it easier to open up from a space that already feels familiar.

Your free consult is a good time to make sure online sessions are the right fit for you. For urgent help, call 911 or call/text 988.
